Coventry Skip Hire

You need a permit for skips placed on Coventry roads or pavements. Skips on private property don't need one. We sort the paperwork with Coventry Council, which takes about 2-3 working days. A standard permit costs £30 for 14 days. You'll pay £15 per week for extensions. During busy periods near the university or city centre, permit processing sometimes takes a day longer. The council occasionally rejects applications for busy junctions like the one at Holyhead Road.

Several types of waste aren't allowed in our skips. These include asbestos, batteries, medical waste, electrical items, gas bottles, paint, oil, tyres and plasterboard (unless in separate bags). The waste transfer station off London Road doesn't accept these materials mixed with general waste. Coventry residents can take most of these items to the recycling centres on London Road or Bar Road. The Bar Road site tends to be less busy on weekday mornings.

A 4-yard skip holds about 45-55 bin bags and works for garden clearances or small home projects. 6-yard skips suit bathroom renovations in typical Coventry terraced houses. 8-yard models handle most house clearances. For heavy waste like soil or rubble, you'll reach weight limits before filling the skip completely. The lorries struggle with heavy loads on steeper Coventry streets like those around Earlsdon. Many customers from semi-detached houses in Tile Hill find a 6-yard skip fits their driveway while providing enough space.

Skips normally stay with you for 14 days. Ring us when you want it collected, giving at least 24 hours' notice. Our lorries work from 7am to 5pm on weekdays. If you need more time, let us know before the collection date. We charge extra for longer periods. Make sure the skip isn't blocked when we come to collect it. The one-way system near the city centre sometimes causes delays in our morning collections. Some customers in Stoke Aldermoor prefer afternoon collections due to school traffic in the morning.

Parts of Coventry have specific access requirements. The older terraced streets in Chapelfields don't always have space for larger skips. The ring road area gets congested between 8-9 am and 5-6 pm, affecting delivery times. New housing estates in Eastern Green often have restrictions on delivery hours, usually allowing access only between 9:30 am-4:30 pm. Most of the industrial sites off Binley Road need deliveries before 2 pm due to shift changes. During match days at the Coventry Building Society Arena, we can't deliver to nearby areas due to traffic restrictions.
