Manchester Skip Hire

Skips placed on private property like driveways don't need permits. For skips on roads or pavements in Manchester, you'll need a council permit. We sort the permit applications, which take about 2-3 working days with Manchester City Council. The permit costs vary in different parts of Manchester. We add this to your quote so you know the total cost upfront.

Most household and building waste can go in our skips. This includes old furniture, wood, soil, bricks and general rubbish. Some items aren't allowed by law: asbestos, batteries, fridges, tyres, paint tins, gas bottles and electrical items. Manchester Council has rules about certain waste types. Remember that heavy waste like soil fills up skips quickly, so you might need a bigger size than you think.

Our normal hire period is 7 days. Many Manchester customers finish with their skips sooner, especially for garden clearances. Just ring us when you're done and we'll collect it, usually within a day or two depending on whether you're in central Manchester or outlying areas like Wythenshawe or Gorton. If you need the skip longer, let us know. We charge a bit extra for each additional week. Most skips in terraced streets need to be collected early morning before traffic builds up.

We take all skip waste to licensed transfer stations in the Manchester area. Workers sort the waste by hand and with machinery to separate recyclable materials. About 80% of skip waste gets recycled, including wood, metal, cardboard and rubble. The sorting facility on Trafford Park handles most of our Manchester waste.
